Gravity flow racking, also known as gravity flow shelving or dynamic flow storage, is a storage system designed to optimize the efficient movement of goods within a warehouse or distribution center. This system utilizes the force of gravity to move products from one end of the rack to the other, allowing for seamless and organized product rotation.
The racks are typically inclined at a slight angle, with rollers or wheels installed on the shelves. Products are loaded onto the higher end of the rack, and due to the slope and the use of gravity, they move down the rollers to the lower end. This setup ensures a first-in, first-out (FIFO) inventory management system, promoting proper stock rotation and reducing the risk of product obsolescence.
